New Place To Visit: "Museum of Mourning Art" Arlington Cemetary , Philadelphia

Just when I thought I knew everything about the Philly area. Bam! I found this! And I thought I would pass this along to you guys.
This museum is in Drexel Hill, PA at the Toppitzer Funeral Home, opened 1990. A huge estate that looks a little like Washington's Mt. Vernon home in VA. This is great for all you "oddities" fans.
There's a great article that is a "must read" that I will link you the website about this museum. Me? I'm planning a visit. This is something I most def have to see!

Are We Really "Helping" The "Other Side"?

Look, I love GA! Believe me I do! For entertainment that is. I enjoy as of late watching the "Paranormal Challenge". But, and there's a big BUT.
Something came into my mind while watching. These "spirits" were once "us". They were alive at one time. With a life history behind them. Whether it was good or bad.
As us "living beings". We have our everyday lives to contend with. Working, hobbies, cooking, shopping, health, family, etc. For me it seems rather ludicrous to continuously saying your doing an "investigation". On what? The same story, same spirits, the same-the same. You know what I mean. It's never changing.
Me being a believer in "the other side" and religious. I believe once a so called investigation is done. Sit down and figure out with your colleagues. Do we help this poor spirits, cast them away to the four winds, or do we just stop harassing these poor people, and really help them. What bothers me mostly with the EVP's, these spirits are struggling to communicate. And us as the living person really don't know them, personally. So hearing an investigator getting angry, demanding, yelling. It's very painful to watch. You have to think. Would you want all these people coming into your "spirit reality" doing this to you? How can they stop you. Yes, you get a reaction. Like a scratch. It doesn't mean their bad (I know what's said about this, and I disagree). They just want you to stop.
I would like to see future investigations training people to really "help". I mean not saying, "Oh, it's ok here. Just learn to live together".
In mostly these old mental institutions, hospitals, etc. We should really help them to get the peace they are looking for.

Looking Forward For The Travel Channel's "Paranormal Challenge"

No, not the Amazing Randy's "Paranormal Challenge". But, Zak Bagans "Paranormal Challenge" tomorrow on the Travel Channel (What happened to Nick and Aaron? Just asking). I know some of you guys probably saying, "Isn't this like Ghost Hunters Academy?". Not really. I believe what Zak's is trying to do is to show us that there are other groups out there. That run the same investigating practices as GA. I hope not "over the top"? But, that wouldn't surprise me and would be very entertaining. Can't wait!

Paranormal Shows Slowdown? I Told You So!

Boy, like the new GEICO commercial. I've been living under-a-rock lately.
Just found out "Paranormal State" is not coming back. I know, I know, how didn't she know about this? Well, I've been busy with what we call "life" I guess? Nothing wrong with that. But this really took me aback? I would never guess that they would leave so soon.
Lately I've notice that all these shows are coming back for each new season, longer and longer. Hey, when I heard "Most Haunted" left not long after they created a new "Paranormal Channel" in the UK. Maybe this was the beginning of a "sign"?
So, the reality is: "This was all a fad!". Oh, not for me. I've always been involved in the paranormal. All my entire life.
Let me go back in time a bit: When I first noticed that this was just a fad? Is when you noticed all these websites popping up all over the place (Including my own-I'll get to that in a second). Forums, magazines, paranormal groups, paranormal gear, paranormal newspapers, paranormal blogs, ghost tours, etc. They all seem to have something in common. They really don't have a clue about the paranormal. I mean a "real" clue. They just know what they have seen and read that has been started mainly by the shows. All of a sudden they became experts overnight. As time have been ticking by you see the "slow down". One by one, groups closing, websites stopped, less ghost tours, and so on. It's what I predicted (their just running off to "The next big thing!).
As for myself? I started this blog because of what I've been seeing. And it got me a little ticked off. So, I went on my own writing what was on my mind. And this was one of my first discussions on my blog a couple of years ago. It came back full circle.

GL TV Review: Syfy's "Haunted Collector".

What can I say? John Zaffis is the Grand Daddy of all the paranormal investigators that are out there today (To me? It's Hans Holzer).
But to tell you the truth? He's starting out from the gate a little too late. Which to me is sad. I know there are some people out there who watched the show and said, "Who the heck is -this- guy?" "He doesn't know what he's talking about!". If you like "Ghost Hunters" then look no further then Zaffis. He was their Yoda.
Now that I cleared the air about this issue. On about the show!
I love, love, love that he mentioned about the fact that you can do an investigation during "the daytime". I have written about this issue a couple of years ago. Thank you for clearing that up! But (and there's a big But)! As for objects retaining an imprint of a haunting (I have written about this also)? I'm very much on the fence. If this is true! Then we can blame everything that's going on with the country today on "The Hope Diamond". If that was so easy.
All in all, I did enjoy the show! Very interesting stuff I must say. Can't wait for next week!

When Is It "Too Soon" To Investigate Hallowed Grounds?

GH first show of their new season is at Pearl Harbor. And I'm on the fence with this. My Uncle was stationed there during the attack. He passed away a couple of years ago. But my mother is very much alive. She remembers the fear the family lived in, day in and day out. Scared out of their minds if someone in uniform will show up at their door (my other Uncle at the time was stationed in the South Pacific also). It's still too fresh!
I remember my Uncle like it was yesterday. He never spoke much about the War. Nobody did in the family. He got medals that he never wanted to show (just once-and that was it). There are too many family members still out there that had a loved one stationed there. That I just wonder if they think this is ok? I hope GH did this with respect. And not for ratings.

How Many Of You "Really" Believe In Ghosts? And Don't Know It?

Now I know this question seems a little odd. But, some people really do believe there is "something" out there that can't be explained. For instance: On "Fact or Faked..." they state when they depleted every avenue of reason. That what they are witnessing just might be "paranormal"? I personally believe more people then none have had an "experience" of some kind but they just can't explain what it is. And shrug it off. How many of those experiences are really the majority? I think more then we know.
So when an investigation is being done our senses are more keen to "hear/see" something. Which can be written off as just plain nerves of blood rushing to our ears (for some). Instead of a really haunting.
I think the future of paranormal investigations really have to be done a little different. Like sending a "focus group" into a location. And in turn, don't tell them that they are really there to conduct a paranormal investigation. It would be amazing to see what they would get as readings and experiences. Another idea is to have people do an investigation in a portable "soundproof" room/booth. I would love to see that!
This would be a turning point to really understand how many people out there are "really" getting true experiences. And for them to understand (or at least open their eyes) that there might just be another world out there for us to learn about. It would be the new frontier.

Are You Ready To Download The "Ghost Radar" App!

I downloaded this little app a couple of months ago. And I'm not ready to give a "thumbs up" on this just yet. The app still doesn't make sense when using it? The words that come bursting out are just all over the place. It reminds me of going to a very bad palm reader. Just random words come flying out, and you have to make a story out of them. It's good to have a little fun with a couple of friends. What I was thinking, wouldn't it be cool is for everyone to have it turned on a the same time. Just to see what happens! Tomorrow Is "Ghost Lounge" Second Anniversary!

It's amazing for me to see that this blog is still alive and kicking! So much have changed since it's onset two years ago.
Mainly in the field of paranormal investigation shows: There seems to be a bit of a slow down (which is not a bad thing). The shows were trying to keep up with "something" that is quite unpredictable. Meaning, ghosts/spirits don't always come out when you demand them to. I have lived in haunted locations all my life. And believe me "they" only come out when they want to. Which could be once or twice at most, or residual. When a location is very haunted usually that would be a demonic haunting. During many of the shows you see the investigators are always stating they "see" or "hear" something. Now we all realized it can be just "house sounds". Or even the weather, rodents, or a floor board is loose. Ghost Adventures seem to keep our interest because they understand it's a TV show. So they understand they have to entertain us which they most certainly do.
The second "change" I have notice is that some people understand better the field of the paranormal/supernatural. It's not a field for everyone. Gee, that's like if I got involved in the WWE. I might understand it. But is it my bag to get involved in? No it isn't. I'm glad that's been cleared up. I stated awhile ago in my blog that I was brought up in the field. My grandmother was a medium (many, many years ago). So I no stranger to this.As for "investigations" end of it - that's something new to me.
The last part I would like to share is a funny one. Last year a hotel in NM a bar opened up. Using my blog's name (not that they realized I existed). Just to clear up something up. I'm not affiliated with them at all. I wish them well. But remember my site is used for "discussions" of the paranormal. No clubbing (but wouldn't that be fun). Just joking! So thanks again for those who stuck be me. Hopefully, one day, I can expand this to bigger and better heights!

"Destination Truth" On The Syfy Channel. How Did They Pay For This Trip?

I don't know about you guys. But don't you ever wonder how these great trips are paid for? It's just that this Antarctica Expedition-"Ghost of Antarctica" must of been a whopper of a bill. Huge, and Mind blowing! I love DT! But personally that trip wasn't worth to put my life on the limb for (if it were me). Gee! This should have been shown on NG. Not on Syfy.
I mean, they really looked like they had a great time (I don't know how with all the cold)! But the paranormal evidence was just not worth that undertaking. And as a side note: Where was Jason and Grant of GH to back up DT's evidence? Curious isn't it? Just throwing it out there.
But all in all. I really enjoyed the show!

Paranormal State Returns! And Some Thoughts On Some Other Paranormal Shows.

Happy to see them back again on Monday, April 18th! The only problems is, why so long in between? I wish they can fix that up. Love their show.
Ghost Hunters season finale is coming Wednesday. And the show is a big disappointment (Love dogs. But it doesn't help the show). Also, doesn't it seem to be getting shorter and shorter the in between the season's themselves. Or is it my imagination?
As for Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files. They do great investigations. But the only problem I have is: Whenever they find themselves stumped to find an answer. Do they have to say, Gee, it might be real or It could be really paranormal? They should just say, Hey we couldn't find anything! Maybe even ask us, the fans, what do we think it can be? Would make the show more interesting. I feel like were left hanging.
On a side note: Oddities has all new shows coming back on Discovery and the Science Channel (Sat. at 10 PM). I really, really love this show. Wonder if they have any ghosties hanging around their shop?

GL TV Review: Fact or Faked Paranormal Files "Thermal Theatre"

So here we go, back to the thermal imager. Is that really a "spirit" or were "people" (other crew members) sitting on any of those seats (the ones that showed a "heat signature") prior to filming? I guess we'll never know. But it does make for great TV.
Thermals in any of the paranormal shows either the spirits are shown hot or cold. Which is it? Or, they look like a real person or a spot. Such as how it was shown on this particular show. The only confusion I have is that when they went close to the heat spot, it disappeared. Which is odd? But, also we have realized there was editing done before airing. I'm very much on the fence with this.
As a "funny" side note: Did anyone else notice that they were all huddled together towards the ending of the segment. Were the "really" scared! Would love to know.

Are The Paranormal Shows Using Gimmicks?

Even though I'm not writing as much as I use to, I still watch the shows! But lately, what the heck is going on? What opened my eyes was Zak of GA whipping his shirt off. And the GA guys half hour comedy show (so funny). Why! Then the girls of GH and GHI. What is it with the "hair". Next they'll be doing commercials for hair products? And now, today, the dog on GH. I love dogs, but again, why! In the fall it was Ryan of PS with him "coming out" (then his book came out also). And I do commend him for it. But for all these questions, why?
I guess it has to do with things just running their course. It's like for some of us (not myself *cough*) that remembered in the late '50s. All there were was all these Westerns and Science Fiction prime time TV shows. They disappeared in the mid '60s (even Star Trek). They tried to revive it. But it never worked out as they did back then. I believe "all" the reality shows are all on the same track to a dead halt (can't wait for the Jersey Shore to go).
For me it's a shame. I love paranormal shows of all kinds. Would hate to see them go. But for now, they can do without the gimmicks. Just give us a good show to watch and enjoy.

To my followers. Yes, I'm back! Had too many loose ends to take care of. Including myself to have a little time off.
I decided to continue to write my blog once or twice a week this time. This seems to work much better for me. And for you guys too! Better stories.

Saw GH last night and I have to say, "What is going on?". Is it me or are they trying to hard to "look" and "act" like Ghost Adventures? Also the "New" Truck (ala Ghost Lab). And what's with them trying to video tape their own investigations? It was pretty bad. If this is what they want to do. Then heck, take some courses at a local college. First! They really don't look like a happy bunch do they? And what was that remark Amy said to Adam. I didn't quite catch that?
Lately I've been enjoying GA. Fun to watch. As I said, all these shows are really just for entertainment. Can't wait for DT Live show in Ireland.

My Most Recent Paranormal Experience

In South Jersey there is an area in my township that you have to drive through almost everyday. But this particular location (I can't disclose it) is on a crossroads right next to the New Jersey Turnpike. It sits in the middle of a residential location. Only a school sits a few hundred yards away.
At night it's very dead around there, just an occasional deer roaming through. About six years ago me and my husband would go to dinner and pass through that particular location. One day we had to stop at the red light. I could see on the side view mirror (as we slowed down to the light) what looked like a small woman dressed in a old style jogging suit in a white mist. What freak me out is that the "woman" was slowly "gliding" towards my door with a hand reached out. The light changed and as we are going "It" disappeared from my side view. My heart was beating like a drum. Didn't talk to anyone about this other then my husband.
About a year later. My son who just starting driving. He would go out with friends and drive them home. Always around 2 to 4 in the morning. This one particular night he drove one friend home who lived on the other side of the "haunted" location. As they turn on that corner he said to my son, "Did you see that little kid standing there?". My son turned to look and he saw a white mist of a small child. The two were so scared. That night my son told me the story. I asked him where did this happened? It was the same place. So I told him about my story. His friend came over the next day. What a long discussion that was. Haven't seen anything since till about a week ago.
Me and my husband were coming back late from my son's apartment. As we came close to the same intersection (which by the way, a new light was installed). I saw a solid white mist cross the street and disappeared. Right under the street lamp post. I didn't tell my son yet about this new haunting.
*I did ask around if there were any stories of a haunting exist. It turned up blank. Very strange!

Can You See The "Dark" Mass?

I'm use to seeing what you see in the picture above. I can't really say what is going on in the "video"? I don't know how camcorders really operate in the first place. Being that it's dark and all.
But it does look like "something" is going on there. What is the difference between a "dark mass" and a "dark shadow"? I'm throwing this out there to my investigator friends. What kind of energy does a dark mass hold? This really intrigues me! I'm going to check this out a little further in the future.

Wouldn't There Be More Hauntings In Anything Built Prior The 19th Century?

Why? Should you ask? Simple? It was the lifestyle of the people who lived prior to the 20th century. In a recent conversation I've read. The person stated, "Why don't we hear about "ghosts" of women who died in childbirth?". This is very true! Most births were always at home. And many women died as a result. It is also a fact that people died at home. And not as it is now in modern times, in a hospital. I remembered myself when I was ill a doctor would come to the house (I'm not that old). When people died they were laid out in the parlor for their wake. Another words, their bodies were taken straight from the house to the cemetery. Which leads me back to the main discussion: Shouldn't these locations be more haunted in general? For me? I'm still not sure how a "haunting" operates? I've heard of stories of people being haunted by someone who died miles away. Do spirits move around? Or stay in one location? Or just disappear in time? Big questions!
Here's a story for you:
There's a building in Savannah, GA that states that it's a "major ghost portal". C Savannah Building was built around the 1860's. But it seems it was built on top of 20,000 ancient graves. And it was a sort of port of call for slaves for auction. The list goes on from there. Do I think it's a portal? Not sure! Just more haunted then the usual locations. Which would not be a surprise due to the age of the building and the history of the city itself. See what I mean?

When You Know A Paranormal Investigation Went Too Far!

It seems a gentleman from Mississippi thought it was a "good idea" to take some clothes off during an investigation in a cemetery. But, here's the catch! He decided it would be even better to take it "all" off and take pictures (no, not of himself) of orbs/spirits. He said it was for the spirits to get more energy. Really!

St. Mark's Church, Lower Manhattan, NYC

I know this place very well due to the fact that my mother lived in the neigborhood for awhile during the '80s.
Manhattan was first controlled by the Dutch. And Peter Stuyvesant was the leader of this new colony as commander of the Dutch West India Colony as the Bowery area was called in 1651. He lived in the area for 25 years which during that time he traveled the world. In the process he has lost a leg. He wore a wooden leg with silver studs.

The St. Mark's Church is located on 10th St. and Second Ave. in the East Village. Mr. Stuyvesant is buried there in a vault. Many people who visit or attend the church say they can hear the obvious sound of a "peg leg" all throughout the church. They also stated that they see "shadows" and "movements" within the church. What's spookier even passersby say they can see this through the church windows from outside. And the church bells have run at weird times with the presence of a "ghost". People say that the ghost of "Peg Leg Pete" has been seen since 1672, from the time of his death.

One Of The Greatest Movies About Ghosts, "The Sixth Sense"

I've just recently watched this movie that came out in 1999, again! It's a great movie in just the right way. Directed by M. Night Shyamalan he created the right story, cast, and place. Believe it or not, there are people out there that still haven't seen it. My husband is one. Their missing a treat!

So for you guys that are in the cold weather climate, like me. Watch this movie after going out holiday shopping with a big bowl of buttered popcorn. Put on your slippers and a throw. And enjoy! Heck, buy it as a gift for someone who like's the paranormal.
And for those who want to get an idea what the story is about? I'm not gonna tell ya! It would spoil the whole atmosphere of the mystery, spooky, strange little tale.

I've been enjoying this pass season of GA. They put a different "spin" on ghost hunting. Remember, how can you really "hunt" for something not there in the first place (like I've said several times before "it's the personal experience" that counts). So what they've been doing this pass season is making our experience of watching the show more tolerable. This can get boring very quickly. I don't care how many new locations they can go to. It's the same thing over and over again. That goes for all the other paranormal shows that are out there also.
By creating this new atmosphere we get to know the boys much better. More approachable. They laugh, joke, get serious, mad, upset in the right contexts of the particular location their investigating.
I always look forward to the next show. Always wonder what cast of characters they'll come across next. It's so funny when some of these women who give the tours have a huge Zac crush. Or Aaron's "scared look". And Nick "scared toughness" (you know he's scared out of his mind). They do change it up quite a bit that it doesn't become stale. Can't wait for next season.

Why Is It That Some People Still Don't Believe In Ghosts?

I can understand why some people still don't believe in "ghosts"! Because everything we experience can be explained one way or another. To "them" at least!
Me and others that have had "personal experience" always beg to differ on this issue. But I try to be fair and understand how a skeptic would see all this. In my last post I explained how a "cobweb feeling" can be created. So this really can't be dismissed. This all comes under the word "debunk". But let's be fair. How many investigators really sit down and do "extreme" debunking. Somethings are seen as proof , such as "knocking" or "shadows". To be real. Of course this can be debunked. Example knocking can be the house settling (each house is different). I believe this should be thrown out. It should be only counted as proof if it correlates to questions being asked. Shadows? Each of us have different eye sights with different eye problems (such as "floaters"). Focus and matrixing is another issue. And should not be dismissed either.
Some of you will say, "Gee, almost "everything" will be thrown out!". No, just smarter investigating is needed to be done. The bad news is: You'll probably walk out more times then you wish for. Empty handed.
It always comes do to the "club" of people, like myself that had a "personal experience" to say they believe. And I truly understand why skeptics, don't.

GL TV Review: Ghost Hunters And Bravo's The Housewives Of Atlanta

It seems that it was Sheree that called GH. Asking them if they can join the show when they come down to investigation in Atlanta. So when the day came. It seems the other two didn't know where they were going that day. The way that Kim was dressed I think she thought she was going to a club. Boobs out and all (can't stop laughing as I'm writing). Don't get me started with Jason and Grant. Jason was all giggly and all. He must of been blushing. Yeah, Grant got their backs, lol! Steve and Tango looked so confused (why are these women here?). What can I say about NeNe, she was loud and all. But the three of them didn't do so bad. No screaming or running. Not bad at all.
The investigation seemed a little chaotic at first. That's very typical for first-time investigators. They tend to talk too much. Maybe the nervousness of the unknown.
As for the Rhodes House? It wasn't really clear to why is this house haunted at all? I believe only one person die there. That's not usual at the time when it was common for people to die at home. There really isn't much out there written about the place being haunted. As for Amy and Kris having that feeling of spiderwebs on them. Sometimes that's "static" if a place is very dry. You know, like a rubbing a balloon and then waving it over your arms it causes the hairs on your arms to rise. Steve and Tango didn't feel anything because they were more covered up then the girls.
It seems that GH tends to go back to Atlanta do another investigation. And the HW's are going to be invited, again! Maybe, who knows? The HW's may want to start a paranormal group of their own (hope not!).
PS: Did Jason say "sweetheart" to the woman at the reveal? I'm not sure if I heard that right.

Twilight Sleep. Is This The Beginning Of Becoming A Sensitive/Psychic?

It seems a lot of people "see" ghosts during what is called Twilight Sleep stage. It happens just before falling into a deep sleep. I'm not going into the discussion of the scientific end of this stage of sleep. I believe your mind and body is just beginning to get into that "zone" of totally relaxation. Which can cause all these personal experiences to happen.
My question is: If these "experiences" become more frequent. Does this help for a person to become a "sensitive" or further, a "psychic"? And can this really be controlled? Another words, you can have these experiences during regular waking hours? I believe this can be true. I think people that learn how to meditate have the right idea. Do they too get these same experience as a person in twilight sleep?
For me, many of my premonitions happens during total deep sleep. Others during twilight. I'm passing along an article I found interesting. I hope that this can help those who are wondering the same way about this phenomenon.

During the holiday weekend I saw a Youtube of a new online TV show called Anomaly 3D TV. Personally I'm not a big fan of 3D (*cough* and that's a long time). Everything lately is 3D, I mean everything. As for the paranormal? Would it help us "see" an apparition better ? Or maybe it can't be caught at all in 3D? Or is this just another gimmick?

Do you think this is a full-bodied apparition? It's been written that this is one of the best one's out there. But this can be done with photoshop.
Here's a loaded question I'm going to throw out to all you paranormal investigators. Why is it that an apparition can "change" from white to dark? Or, just white or dark? Never really could understand that? In my lifetime I mainly seen dark shadows to a clear "color" semi apparitions. But it still basically, dark.

George Washington Hotel, PA. A New Reason For The "Do Not Disturb" Sign.

There was a fire in the Laundry Room at the George Washington Hotel recently. The Fire Dept. and the Police Chief J.R. Blyth was called in. The hotel was evacuated. During the evacuation...it was Room 405 that surprised them. The Police Chief stated "...this discovery was the most grisly murder scene he had seen during his 35 years..." during his interview with Pittsburgh WTAE. It was so bad that he had to call in for detectives to the crime scene.
It's seems they saw blood everywhere, a scalp, and worse.
It turned out that a movie was filmed there called "New Terminal Hotel"(straight to DVD). The owner decided to "keep it" in the same condition that it was in during the filming. The owner said the room stayed that way due to the fact that the hotel is known to be "haunted" (I personally never heard of it). He calls it his "Scare Room" for his Scare Tours that take place at the hotel.
The bottom line: The Police Chief was not amused.

Gee, I didn't even get to see the second one yet! It seems this is an actual franchise now. It's slated to come on Oct. 21, 2011.
What's funny to me is...I didn't really care for the first one! The main reason is. Once all the spoilers come out. It's no fun anymore. Which seems a little strange? It's like...I would hear about a new movie that would be coming out that I would like to see. And I get some "clues" to what I'm going to see. And it's still a surprises me! But with this movie. It seems to be totally ruined once you know what the storyline is. Never had an experience like that before.
Not in a rush to see this one either.

GL News: The Housewives of Atlanta Will Be On Ghost Hunters Dec. 1st

I'm a fan (use to-not this coming season) of The Housewives of New York City. I do however watch some of the Atlanta Housewives shows. This one will take the cake. It will be a riot for sure. These women and the TAPS guys? It's a little like water and vinegar. This pass week Meatloaf join GH, again, at Sloss Furnace! And I don't think it's the last time either.
I'm trying to understand why all the "guests" to their show? And why these particular people? I think there are more interesting people, out there, to bring on the show. Don't you think? Who's next? It would be different if they bought in an actual fan in to join them.
Is this for ratings? Could be? But that would look a little like a "red flag" to me.
Or maybe their just plain bored! I could see that. Last night they really looked "real" tired during their investigating.

Do You Believe That Cemeteries Are Being Used For "Entertainment"?

I just saw the movie "It's Complicated!". In the movie there is a part where this couple go yearly for their wedding anniversary to a graveyard (this is in LA). To see an outdoor movie with folding chairs and all.. On top of graves no less! There are plenty of cemetery tours all over the country. If not, the world! But isn't this called the person's "final resting place"?
Here in the Philly area is there's a place called Laurel Hill Cemetery. There are all sorts of macabre tours and stuff going on in there. You want to have a party or a wedding, in a cemetery? Come on! Really! I love when there's a street festival in Philly. Their they are (the people from LHC) with brochures and other items on their table display. It seems so unreal to me. Remember the people who are buried there paid a pretty penny to have their eternal peace. It's just too creepy for me!

Is There Really A Need For More Exorcists?

I am Roman Catholic. This was a subject really never discussed till the book "The Exorcist" came out in the early '70s. It was really an "unknown" subject. I do know that the church believes all spiritual experiences such as "seeing" ghosts, hearing "strange" noises, being "touched" and so on as being "Demons". Period! That's something that not many people know about. I know there are people out there doing exorcisms. I'm not an expert on this subject. It was always seen as the true and only way of doing this practice. It has to be done by only a Catholic priest sent with the Vatican's approval. There are many steps first that has to be done before the actual exorcism can commence. Many secret meetings.
So why now does the Catholic Church want "more" priests involved in exorcism? Is it all the paranormal shows, paranormal groups visiting sites (doing too much provoking), all the claims of people seeing ghosts? Or is it because 2012 is just around the bend? (Or maybe they know something we don't?)
What gets me is that not many people are joining the church to become priests and nuns anymore! And maybe this is being done to make it more appealing to the young. Now that would be creepy!

Apple Computers, Did They Have A Pact With The Devil?

OK, sounds very dramatic, doesn't it? But I saw recently a very interesting little article. It really caught my attention.
So here it goes: Christies of London famous auction house is auctioning the first Apple Computer that were sold back in 1976. This is when they were just a fledgling company running from Steve Jobs parents house. Back then it was called Apple 1. The "computer" is being auctioned at $161,600. But here's the kicker!
Back in 1976 the "original" price as for the Apple 1 was, ready for this: Exactly $666.66. Unbelievable isn't it! So was this a future pact with devil? Some of you guys are probably wondering the same thing I thought. What an "odd" price? Did they really pick this price at random? Anyway a year later in 1977 they dropped the price to $475.00.

Obscura, A Little Shop Of "Oddities" On The Discovery Channel

Being I was born and raised in NYC. To see a show like this is very refreshing! It shows totally the "other" side of NYC that I know and love. The strange and weird little tiny shops that dot the city. That people outside don't know about. The "one of a kind". And it's a shame.(There's a shop near 59th Street that just sells "buttons". From real museum quality to the strange)
Now you may ask, "What does this have to do with the paranormal?". First of all, many of you know that there is a belief that a spirit may follow an "object". If this is true. Then this shop must be big-time haunted! For example. In last night's show there was a woman that requested to purchase an antique morticians table. They went to her home to bring it over for her. Her house was filled with bizarre equipment and other items. Another thing I found funny, the owner himself doesn't like to go down to his own basement at the shop. I wonder why? *wink* At one point in the show. The owners of the shop were thinking of buying an antique coffin. Interesting isn't it.
For me I really enjoyed the show. It made me laugh and gave me back good memories. In a funny sort of way.

A Haunted Gift Shop! Again! Oh, My!

Now, now, I'm not being serious. This is just a little running joke among many fans of paranormal shows for many years now.
Last night on Ghost Hunters they were at Fort William Henry. They were doing the usual tour before investigating. I was just thinking to myself, "I hope they don't have a "haunted" gift shop!". And there it came! The tour guide said here's the gift shop! But to make me laugh even more was he said: But we call it a "Sutler Shop". I almost fell of my chair. Do they know this joke about the gift shops and the paranormal? Just kidding!
By the way. This gift shop was huge. The claims are that people can hear footsteps all over on top of the Gift Shop. Oh I mean Sutler Shop. If you notice, it's a drop ceiling which for me seems to be a problem to really to get an idea what the real source of the sound is.
I'm just going to throw this one out to you guys! Why is it that the gift shops "always" seem to be haunted? What was the location originally before it was turned into one? Just wondering.
Oh? And a warning to all you paranormal investigators out there. When Jason and Grant were checking out the inside of the cannons to see if there are any critters housing in them. The found that each and every one had a bees nest in them. Just to give a head's up on that.

Cell Phones And The Paranormal!

Phil Hayes, investigator from Paranormal Research UK recently told The Sun Newpaper that a third of hauntings now are done through mobile phones.
A 43% increase of this phenomenon in the last four years. Usually a person will see on their ID caller "withheld number" or "0000000000" (Personally, I have seen this on my own phone. And it wasn't paranormal).
Statistics is showing that most hauntings are "sound". While only 20% is actual "sightings" and 15% is "smell".
Tesco Mobile UK did a study that showed a 70% upsurge of paranormal evidence using mobile phones. They recommended that you should put your phone on the highest quality resolution setting and use the recorder.
The only thing I'm wondering? What's the best cell phone on the market to use for this purpose? I think some research has to been done in this area.

GL TV Review: Fact or Faked Paranormal Files "Symphonic Spirits"

This was a case about a viral Youtube that has been going around about the Valentown Museum "Ghost". The place was built in 1879. As far as anybody knows only one death had occurred there in what use to be a ball room. The usual jealous boyfriend that shot another man. But the people who run the place believe it's the antiques that are all over the museum that is the cause. Some from the Civil War. Very creepy looking place! A lot of paranormal investigators believe this place to be very haunted. That being said, the security camera picked up an image of a full-body apparition during a paranormal group's investigation. When looking at the footage, for me, it looks too digitized. To the point of ridiculous. It looks as if someone "smudged" the film tape with a pencil eraser. You know, there was someone "really" there at the time. Then later the image got played around with. As for the Fact or Fake crew. I know they went the whole nine yards to come up with ideas to what it can be? Gee, they never said once, "I think this tape was tampered with!". As for the music they heard? I can't say for sure what that was. I'll leave it at that.

Wow! It's been way over a year ago that I wrote an article in Huliq about this. My poor article was taken down as well as others who wrote about this. And now it's 100% true. I feel vindicated.
Now that I got that off my chest. For those who don't know about Dark Shadows: It was a TV soap opera in the late '60s based on vampires, ghosts and witches. It ran a good course. A movie was made in the early '70s. But didn't do well at the box office. The character Barnabas Collins was popular as any rock star of the time. So I could understand why JD would love to play this role. Hope they don't make it into a musical.

I personally like that they got rid of the background music. It seems a lot of people were disappointed that they didn't find anything. I rather have that then having something "fake" added on for good measure. Maybe they should have had a live audience there. They can come back from time to time from investigating to take real-time questions from them. It would have made it more interesting.

Paranormal State: Well they went where now one tread before. Katrina was on a bed with her "black lace bra" on. For all the world to see. This was too lure a spirit to join her. I thought that was a bit much. What's next? *shutter*

GA: Love them. But something this pass Friday made me start to think? When Aaron heard the piano tinkle. And they showed us that the piano doesn't work at all. I paused for a moment...what if they have discussions how they would "talk" or "act" on camera ahead of time. Then later edited in the missing "sound" or "object" in? Hate to think this way. But we do live in the time of photoshop and other editing gadgets.

Ghost Lab: This theory that I have with GA holds for them too. For instance, there was a hallway that they were looking down for a little girl. As they pan the camera we see a lot of objects down that end...and then we see a flash of a little girl. It didn't look right to me. And is it me that they always finding things? All the time? I don't think their equipment is any different then what's out there already. They all buy it from the same vendors.

Remember, this is all my own opinion. Just wonder if there are others out there that thinking the same thing?

Should Haunted Places Be Used For "Haunted House" Businesses?

I know what your thinking, "Of course! Where else will you do it in?". I have a question? How many of you guys remember in the '70s the first Haunted Houses that were made for people to visit all year long? Not the old fashioned amusement park ones. But the first-ever actors in costumes, rooms built for the propose to scare. The first one I went to, believe it or not. Was in an actual house that was on the real estate market awhile. It was made temporarily as a haunted house. The second one that I went to was in Long Branch, NJ. It was huge. Long lines that no one mind to stand on for hours. People all of NYC traveled into Jersey to see it. It was a big moneymaker for years. Until: People had the bright idea of doing these "attactions" in real haunted locations. It seems to me a little of a contradiction. When people investigate they are told to go by certain rules. One being to respect the dead. Talk to them clearly. Do what you have to do. And then get out. These "shows" are a shear riot of noise, laughter, lights, people yelling. It's disrespectful.
For me I think a building built or reused (not a haunted location) for this sole purpose is fine. To make it year round would be something of a treat for family and friends to enjoy.

Breaking News From The "Ghost Hunters" Front

Lately things have been going faster then I can keep up with. As many of you know. I don't write on weekends. But, this pass weekend there was so much information with the Ghost Hunters franchise that came up.
First, I found out the Dustin Pari is going to be on a new show called "Paranormal Highway". I don't have any information about it. It was heard about during a recent convention.

Second, Brandy Green left? Or was fired from GHI. The why and when? I have no clue. But it did happen. As to do with Robb? I don't think he's coming back either? That was heard through the grapevine

Third, Britt Griffith was fired by Syfy. That was based on a recent radio broadcast. That he was quoted saying, "let's say" politically wrong phases. The paranormal community is at odds with one another on this (many of them we know). I believe he was just working on, recently, the new GHI shows to come.

And the most funny news. Jason and Grant (but for a good cause) are going to be on "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" Oct. 29th.

The Story Behind The Movie: "Arsenic and Old Lace"

This is a great old fashion Halloween movie to watch this time of year. Even if it "old". It's fun and scary (not too scary) at the same time. Love Cary Grant.
But there is an actual story behind the title. As in the movie it's based on a woman (in the movie "women") who murder old men. The "real" story is about Amy Archer-Gilligan who ran a nursing home in Newington, Conn. The murders happened between 1910-17. Authorities believed it was a total of 48 people to be exact. The name of the facility was "Sister Amy's Nursing Home for the Elderly". The story went nation wide due to an articles written by The Hartford Courant starting May 9, 1916. The articles were called "Murder Factory".
On June 18, 1917 she was found guilty and declared insane.

GL TV Review: Ghost Lab, Discovery Channel

Ghost Lab? Yes, I'm just as surprised as you are. I just so happened to have caught it on the TV listings last night. But don't worry. They'll be on again tomorrow at 10PM E/P.
Last night's new season show was in Gettysburg. Which if anyone of you remember this was the place where the Klinge brothers of Everyday Paranormal. Many years ago. Caught on camera a complete regiment of soldiers on video. I've seen this video before. To me it looks like a "real" group of people marching. Solid. As they explain "One moment their were there. The next their were not". Check it out if if have a chance.
I always had a problem watching these guys. They talk about a electronic "net" that they place over a building? Also that they have a "special" EVP recorder? Meaning it's recording in real time. So you can hear a "voice" speaking to you right then and there answering you back.
As it's stated on the Discovery Channel website, they use the "world's most sophisticated equipment". This is just to tell us that they are the best of the best out there right now. So we have to believe everything we see is fact. On this particular show. They hit jackpot! A very clear looking shadow person. Class A EVP's, only. They never seem to walkaway empty handed. I myself am not into investigating. But I do understand that this is not the case for paranormal investigators. Usually you would come back empty handed.
I really hope that "Extreme Paranormal" doesn't come back. That would be way too much!

The name sounded so much like the rhyme "Pudgy Wudgy was a bear..."
If any of you have watched the start of the new season of "Paranormal State" yesterday. You would know what I'm talking about.
The family did look very concern about this entity that is living in their home. Frighting their children and themselves out the door. Just to hear Ryan say (nothing against him) at the end of the investigation "Pukwudgies" was so funny. And the homeowners faces were golden. They were so stone faced. I think it's just out of confusion and just plain stunned. I can see it in their eyes, "This is what is haunting our home?". I can't get into the whole story. But it's all based on American Indian folklore. Mostly around the area of Cape Cod, MA. Hairy midget creatures with claws.

Also another controversy will come up based on this particular episode. A la "Collargate" fame of GH. Remember that Halloween Special? Chad was in the basement when he said he felt a scratch on his leg. It did showed up on camera that you can see the back of his shirt being "tugged", hard, around the sametime. If you missed it. Give it time. It will show up on Youtube, trust me. I'll keep you posted.

If any of you guys just watched this pass Friday the Travel Channel's Ghost Adventures at Waverly Hills. It was mentioned to Zak to watch out for his "doppelganger". Or aka doubleganger, someone seeing or seeing your own "double".

Are Paranormal Investigators Scientists? Are Some Shop Owners Shops Really Haunted?

Your probably wondering. Why are these two questions put together for the same post? It all had to do with a ghost story that I was trying to piece together.First of all I like to write about hauntings that is not very well known. To bring in fresh air into the paranormal. It seems we always hear about the same places over and over.
I'm not going into who I am talking about (not yet). There is a well known paranormal group that have been around "longer" then the other usual ones you hear about (you know, on TV). That being said. They are very scientific about all their findings. A matter of fact. You never read about the "story" of any of the so call hauntings on their website. You know, the history of the hauntings. They basically just write about the "data". Are they "true" scientist? No, not at all (particularly after you read their bios). And that's what causes a big problem to all their data they obtain.
Now to the shop owners. Are some shops calling paranormal investigators to come in a check out to see if their place is haunted? Yes, more now then ever before due to the economy. If it brings money in, sure come on down! As for my "story" that I wanted to write about? I called up this particular shop to find out "the story" behind the so call hauntings she wrote about on her website. To my surprise...she had none! She said it's based on what the investigators told her (about her shop being haunted). Not from her own experience which again...was none. Huh? Why did this very well known group go in to do an investigation in the first place? Very interesting!
Who contacted who? Is what I'm wondering about? Did the paranormal group called her because of the age of her shop and the kind of merchandise she handles could "cause" a haunting? So hey, let's call her if she would let us come in with all our equipment to see if her shop is "haunted". I personal think this is so wrong in more was then one.
I personally believe that a person or client should call the investigators first. And that there should be a series of stories (experiences) connected to the house or building before you start an investigation. All this data that this group obtained. For me at least for this case. I deem unusable information.

GL TV Review: Ghost Hunters: Milton School

I'm not going to talk about the entire show. Just my personal take on one aspect of it.

Knowing that not many people believe in "demons" but may believe in spirits. This might be to much to understand. It's true what they said at the reveal. That all that huge manifestations that we were noticing usually happens with a spirit of a "child" or "children". But they did not mention it can "also" be caused by a demon, or malevolent spirit. Which personally I think it was. They did look very uneasy. Like they couldn't get out of there fast enough. A couple of them said they have never "in all their years involved" in the paranormal witness anything like this. For me, for the first time "watching" their show I can feel the feeling of "dread". I never experience that myself either. The woman showing the place looked so tickled pink. I know, I know, to make money off the "spirits". I don't think that that's would be such a good idea. I believe the place should be excorsized asap.
And if you really didn't notice? Jason didn't say, "We would love to come back!". That says it all!

GL TV Review: Destination Truth, "Ghosts of Truk Lagoon"

First, I love Destination Truth. I really enjoy it! But, sorry Josh! Your not the first to do an "underwater paranormal investigation".

It's been mentioned on several forums as well. I'm surprised it took as long as it did for someone else to try this type of investigating. As I figured watching the show. It's difficult to say what they are "seeing" and "hearing"? First Josh mentions that he sees a black shadow. But he did mention before that there are sharks that surround that area. So that's hard to call. As for "sound"? He kept on hearing the sound of an engine (he was near the engine room of a boat). At another location he was hearing the sound of a truck engine (there were trucks in that particular location). The problem with all this is: Sound travels pretty easy underwater. As for how much of a distance? I'm not sure. I thought when I first wrote about underwater investigations it was dead on arrival. Just because of what I just mentioned above. What blew my mind is what Grant of Ghost Hunters mentioned during helping Josh reviewing evidence? He said that "they" (Ghost Hunters) might be interested in doing this themselves. Really! I would love to see Jason in a wet suit! Just joking!

GL TV Review: Ghost Hunters Lemp Mansion "Psychic vs. Paranormal"

I'm not going to write a review about the "whole" investigation. Just the portion to do with Jason doing a little "experiment".
Both Jason and Grant were in different adjoining rooms. Jason had a recorder in which he said (to the spirit), go to Grant and say in his ear, "Atlantis". About a couple of minutes later you see Grant flicking his ear. Went over to Jason in the other room and said that something just whispered in his ear saying, "Atlantis?" Jason was intrigued that this worked. So he did a "second" recording saying this time tell Grant, "Comet". This took a little longer. Grant went over, again, to Jason and said he heard, "Comic? etc".
When all the evidence was being reviewed. This particular EVP's. Neither words told to Grant was picked up by the recorders. Amy responded by saying, Was this Psychic or Paranormal?
For me, I believe this was psychic. That was my first impression when I first saw this. So, is Grant psychic? It seems to point in that direction. And there's nothing wrong with that. But there are too many people out there that are true skeptics. I know they really didn't want to go further into that subject.
I wish they did. It would make the show more interesting. At least for me!

Is "Less" Equipment Being Used During Investigations?

During the start of the new season on several "ghost" shows on TV. It's very noticeable how little of the equipment is being used. Yes, there are a couple of new toys being used. But...we all seen them before last season. Here and there.
The thermal imager is used (hardly)...but there are different ones (which I just realized myself). It's not explained to the viewer what we are suppose to be looking for (is an outline of a human figure, yellow? red? blue)? It's very confusing?
My question is: Why the change? Equipment was always the main "proof" of a haunting. It seems they are changing that having an "experience" is more important. I agree with that. In the past when I used to be involved in discussions on several forums this was "my" main stand. It was a very heated topic. Mainly for skeptics.
Question for you guys: How many pieces of equipment do you see "now" compared to past seasons? You can almost count them almost on one hand.
Where does ghost hunting, or for that matter the paranormal shows are headed?
Do we really need equipment when visiting a haunted location? If it's for yourself. I don't think you need a thing.
I think it comes down to: You believe or you don't!

What I like about the last book it's written with a sense of humor. Just like Anthony Bourdain's books (Love his books too!). It makes the reading much more enjoyable. Weird NJ has books out on many US states and Europe.

"White Ghost" By Yoshitomo Nara On Park Avenue, NYC

A Ghost Hunter To Investigate Castle Warden, St. Augustine, FL

On September 24th Dustin Pari of GH will lead an investigation at Castle Warden. Home to "Ripley's Believe It Or Not".
I've personally have been there myself (Way before the Ghost Tours). It's a very imposing place. Heck! All of St. Augustine is just plain creepy!
Here's a little info from wiki about the Castle:
" Ripley's oldest Odditorium, located in the Castle Warden, was purchased shortly after his death in 1949 and opened in 1950. Prior to becoming home to Ripley's vast collections from his many travels, "The Castle" as it is known, was once a hotel which played host to many famous guests, including Ripley himself and author/owner Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings. "The Castle" was originally a Moorish Revival style mansion, built in 1887 by millionaire William Warden as a winter home. The popularity and success of this museum led Ripley's associates to open new establishments throughout the United States and the world. It seems during the 1940's there was a fire at the Castle that killed two women. Some claim to smell smoke. Others feel the uneasy feeling of dread. Lately people have called the police because they claim to see a woman at the third floor window, screaming! The eerie thing about this is. The windows have been boarded up since the '50s.
This upcoming investigation is not being filmed for the Ghost Hunters series. It's a private investigation for fans. You can check if there's still tickets at the TAPS website.

When you see the line "...difficult decisions, and the struggles with questions of faith..." now I understand what that means.
In a recent EW.com Exclusive it states that Ryan is coming out as a bisexual. This is a big thing due to the fact that he's Roman Catholic. So I could understand why he wrote this book. It's a smart choice that this information should come out in his "own words". Then in some creepy tabloid newspaper.

Can A Baseball Team Really Be Cursed?

I'm not a sports fan. I do watch from time to time being the only female in the house. I was raised right next door to both Yankee Stadium and Shea Stadium. But when people are trying to blame "ghosts" or a "curse" is the cause of their beloved team losing...I don't know what to think?

It seems some believe that the Nationals Baseball Team is cursed (Maybe? Who knows). The National Park Stadium was built at the Washington DC Navy Yard by the Anacostia River. John Wilkes Booth autopsy was preformed on the USS Montauk dock there. On the other side of the yard is Fort McNair is where four of the Booth's co-conspirators were hung. Booth was buried there for a time until his remains were moved.

So where does this "curse" fit in? Lincoln loved Baseball or Town Ball as it was originally called. It was a known fact that the Union Army played baseball during the Civil War. Union General Abner Doubleday some believe to be the Inventor of Baseball. So what better way to "get back" at the Union then to haunted the new baseball team and it's stadium. Curse them to never win!
I don't know? Until I see some "real" ghosts, or hauntings going on in the stadium. I believe it's just poor management or just "not to hot" players is the real cause. Or just plain old fashion "bad luck". Which usually don't last "forever".

David Boreanaz who plays Special Agent Seeley Booth of the TV show "Bones" believes his house is haunted!
In a recent interview with "Regis and Kelly" he started right away talking about his house in LA that he recently purchased with his wife Jamie Bergman.
"Were not too sure? We woke up in the middle of the night and we heard this big bang! It felt like the bed literally fell off underneath us. My first instinct is we're having an earthquake...turns out, it wasn't an earthquake. Cut to two week later, same thing happens. It's like something picked our bed up... so Jaime and I think ghosts are here!"

New Movie "Case 39" To Come Out This October

"Case 39" was filmed in 2008. It has already been in theaters in the UK last year. I wonder why did they shelved this so long here in the US? Notice how it pops out near Halloween? It's also noticeable that there are very few scary movies coming out this time of the year. Not counting "The Last Exorcism" that has already been playing in theatres. The movie industry have been changing. It was funny this passed July there was really no action packed movies for the 4th of July. Maybe this is the new trend? People are not going to movie theaters anymore (The movie candy is too expensive. Which is bad enough.). It's very sad.

Halloween Kick-Off Season! Start Preparing!

Yes, it's that time of year again! This year I'm going to start writing here and there of different sources. Many of which are long distance to order from. Items may take 6 to 8 weeks, yikes! Some are really darn too expensive. It gives you sometime to save a little before hand. Last year I gave sources that are more gear for low-end parties (cheap!). Like for children and family. This year I like to go a little more extravagant. More to impress co-workers or bosses, etc.
Martha Stewart has her own "Halloween Central" on her website. Each year she comes with more and more brand new ideas. What I like is that some of her stuff you can buy at Michaels (arts and crafts store). So you can just pick it up. Early!

Dapper Cadaver is another website has that "crazy scientist" professional items for a Halloween party. Some $200 and up. But, here's the catch! If you like that Gothic or Steampunk Look in your home decor. Then what you do is buy only items that can stay in your home, permanently. This way it's not a waste of your money.

Time Magazine Article About Regulating Psychics

Time Magazine on September 2nd had an article "In the Crystal Ball: More Regulation For Psychics". It states that in Warren, Mich. this month fortune tellers must be fingerprinted and pay a yearly fee of $150. plus a $10 background check just to read fortunes. The city says it's to weed out "unsavory characters". Here's a little trivia I didn't know: "1 in 7 Americans consulted a psychic or fortune teller in 2009". Wow! That's a lot of people!
In Annapolis, MD they issue what is called a Fortune-telling License. And in Salem, MA the town put a "cap" on the number of local fortune tellers are allowed to practice there trade there.
Very interesting article. Please read it. There's more to raise your eyebrows to.

Edgar Allen Poe's House, Philadelphia, PA

I know, I know! Poe again! Funny thing happened this weekend. I landed up in the Spring Garden's area of Philly for an errand. I thought why don't we go to Poe's House? For me personally I lived near Poe's Cottage in the Bronx, NY as a child (many moon's ago) right off Fordham Road. It was sad to hear that his wife Virginia died in the tiny little cottage in the Bronx (original furniture is still there). So for me this is my second stop at a Poe residence (there's two more).
The house is located on 7th Street off Spring Gardens. The only thing that is missing is furniture. But it's a must see. The Park Department did a great job in installing the whole area with a museum-type quality. Only one thing you should do "go on a guide tour". It's the only way to really get the whole feel of what it was like when the Poe's were there. This is also where his wife first fell ill.
In the Parlor area of the house wallpaper was removed during renovation. On the wall the workers noticed a carving near the door frame saying "DEATH". They believe this could have been done by Poe himself while he sat at his desk writing. Someone asked the guild if the place was haunted? He said he didn't know. But a guest took a picture of the carved "DEATH" and saw a mist in the picture.
It's believed he wrote part of "The Raven" there before moving to NYC. But he did write "The Black Cat" and "The Tell-Tale Heart in Philly. During the tour you be able see where the two stories ideas came from. In Poe's mother-in-law's room is a loose removable floor board. Where it believe the idea for "The Tell-Tale Heart comes from. The Basement is where the idea for "The Black Cat" came from the broken wall near the door.

All in all. It was a very good visit. I enjoyed it. Would be interesting to know if it really is haunted?

John Cusack To Star In A New Movie, "The Raven"

John Cusack will play a "fictionalized" Edgar Allen Poe in his last days.
As the story goes. Poe will be working with a detective to catch a serial killer. The catch is, the killer is not alone. The killer has the detective's fiancee in tow during the killings.

I know what your thinking. Is this Poe's "The Raven"? Nope, it isn't. The tie-in to The Raven is that the serial killer uses Poe's stories towards the killings. So he's is leaving behind obvious clues. That only Poe can figure out and evidently catch him before he strikes again.
To me this is too similar to the recent "Sherlock Holmes" movie with Robert Downey Jr. I would have rather seen a re-make of The Raven (I like Vincent Price on his re-make. So funny!). Or seen a movie based on the "real" last days of Poe's life.

St. Benedict And St. Michael Medals. You Don't Have To Be Catholic To Carry One!

I'm Roman Catholic. When dealing with something that you don't quite understand what harm "it" can cause you. Protect yourself at all cost. It can can follow you home. Or worst, it can be a demon.
So for those who are not Catholic. Here are a few tips. As I said in a previous post. You should not have to pay for holy water. It's free. Go with a small bottle in tow to a local Catholic Church (Some don't have the huge "coffee urn" looking canister out all the time. Only when there is mass going on.) The "urn" is either in the back of the church or towards the front side. So look around and go to another church if you can't find it. One will have it out. Don't be shy.
As for medals. There is a protocol. You can buy them online or go to a religious store (They are located in some of the bigger Catholic Churches as a gift store). After you have purchased them you should have them blessed by a priest. Or a least "you" yourself can bless them with holy water and the proper prayer for the particular medal you purchased. If you want it bless by a priest. Go to the Rectory of you local church (Again, you don't have to be Catholic!) Ask if there is a priest available to "bless" your medal. You can even tell them the reason why. They will understand it for protection. There is no payment to do this. Remember one thing. The priest does blessings all the time.
As for the meaning of particular religious medals? Each and everyone is for a different purpose. The two main one's for protection are the St. Benedict and St. Michael medals.

St. Benedict for me is the best one against the Devil himself. Get the one with with the two sided emblems (one is an X on the back). They don't have to look exactly like below. Just the same markings.

"Planchette" Divinatory Paintings & Writings At Amberella Gallery, The Piazza At Schmidts, Philly

There are so many talented artists and writers out there that are interested in the supernatural. When I heard of Amberella Gallery in Northern Liberties showing of "Planchette" I checked into it. To my surprise, one of my favorite Esty jewerly makers "Bloodmilk" was involved.
What makes this art show interesting is how a simple planchette is used as a communication device between two best friends (more in an unconscious way). One of the friends, Danielle Vogel moved cross country to start on her PhD. As a writer her writing is very internal. Thoughts becoming to hard to come out as a voice. But much easier when written. Which to cause the reader "to think" what each and every words means? Very intriguing! Is the writer insane, or very much knows what she wants you to think by all the twist and turns. Maybe the confusion is really to lead you to her way of thinking. Very haunting indeed! Parts of her on going novel "The Memory of a Color" is on display as wall hangings of cloth and twigs.
As for J.L. Schnabel I love her paintings, very dark in it's meanings and beautiful at the same time. The jewelry is the most interesting of all. The use of making an altar to show her work is fascinating. Like a Voodoo or Santeria altar. Each item has it's own use and meaning. Together has a very strong presence. Very powerful!The symbol of the planchette to show the connection of these two friends is a great move. The exhibit will continue till September 8th.

Word Of The Wise! Be Careful while Ghost Hunting!

This is the second case I heard of someone that died while ghost hunting (the other was in Canada). I believe this should be the " number 1 " on everyone's check list. To be careful! In the the boy scouts they believe in "two-deep" leadership. When investigating please bring a partner with you at all times.

Confused About "Most Haunted"?

There seems to be something is going on with Most Haunted? I noticed that you can't find them on the Travel Channel anymore. Even on the website Living TV something just didn't look right?
Most Haunted been around since 2002, a couple of years before Ghost Hunters. They've been around a long time. I did notice that their show lately have been changing in recent years. I loved their "live" shows. Seven days straight of pure fun (I saw those on Youtube). But when they had the spin-off's like the Screaming Banshees and others. It just wasn't making much sense? I know Yvette had a major operation (even that was made a show of over in the UK).

So I looked into what the heck was going on with the show? To my surprise just this past June Yvette Fielding has step down as hostess of Most Haunted.
Here's was happened to the series:
"After the first 11 episodes of the original series 7 were added to series 6, series 7 became a 6 episode series.
During the Most Haunted spin off series Midsummer Murders, the team filmed a 9 part series. However only 8 were ever aired. The 9th episode, filmed in Lymm Village and featuring a Jack the Ripper suspect, was never aired.
Series 10 was due to be a 20 part UK series but was made an 11 episode series after LIVING shelved the remaining 9 episodes for series 11, which was made up of the filmed UK episodes."
I don't understand what this means? Is it "done"? Know body is talking. What's even more confusing is that they just started a new Paranormal Channel in the UK back in 2008 (don't know if it's still on?). She is however still involved in the paranormal with a show called "Ghosthunting with ..."
Personally I think this is the start of the "slow down" I spoke about awhile ago on my blog. The supernatural wasn't a thing that people spoke about on a daily basis. Only us few do. It's just a matter of time when it goes back to being something that is just done on Halloween. Or talked about in front of a campfire late a night. Sad but true.
