Going Antiquing This Weekend. Think Again?

There is a lot of talk about buying an old object. Their are some that say the "aura" of the person who owned it at one time still possess it. Meaning, they "haunt" the object.
Now, that's why some people will tell you, "No Thanks!" to something "old" your giving them as a gift. Not a very good idea. It's sad when it's a wedding ring or old piece of pottery.
For me, I could understand. It's good to start fresh. Everything your own. No bad vibes will come to you. If you believe this to be true?
But, how many of us can look around our house, right now. How many objects do you see? I would be maddening to think that all these spirits of previous owners are in your house.
So, for me. I'm not into believing this belief. Are you?

There are two books on this subject. I'll have to read them next.

Twitter Post From Dr. Ciarian O'Keeffe Of Most Haunted

I'm still very surprised to see that this is still going on. It's been awhile. But, for those of you that don't remember or don't know about money owed to fans from a cancelled TapsCon. This was a big thing.
So, to see on Dr. O'Keeffe's Twitter this little tidbit:

"is thinking he may as well give up on the $3845 debt he's still owed from TAPSCon 2008. Brent Fair (the organiser)... http://bit.ly/cJO5rl 10:52 PM May 25th via Facebook"

GL BREAKING NEWS: Amityville House For Sale

I think I'll let it speak for itself.

"Amityville Horror' house for sale
May 25, 2010|By Rob Manker, Chicago Tribune reporter

For sale

The house made famous by the 1979 movie "The Amityville Horror" is available. For $1.15 million, you could own the five-bedroom Dutch Colonial in Suffolk County, N.Y., where six members of the real-life DeFeo family were shot and killed by another family member in 1974. The Lutz family moved into the house a year later and lived there for less than a month, moving out in fear of the paranormal activity dramatized in the film and in the Jay Anson book on which it's based. The house has since been remodeled and its address changed to discourage gawkers."

Point Lookout Lighthouse, Scotland, MD

Point Lookout Lightout was built in 1830. Located by the Chesapeake Bay and the Potomac River. But, even before it's being built. The land itself has a very tragic history. From shipwrecks, Indian massacres, and the Virginia Indian massacring settlers in 1648. Two Keepers (before the lighthouse was built) died there.
But, it's mainly known for the Union Civil War camp that surrounded the Lighthouse during 1862. It was called Camp Hoffman. About 50,000 Confederates were tented there. About 4,000 to 8,000 died at the camp during the war.
As for hauntings? There are plenty. Rag-tag men walking about the land with sunken eyes. And the smell of gunpowder. Voices are heard saying "Get out!". In the lighthouse itself has it's own hauntings. Heavy booted foot steps. A female voice is heard singing. A male and female are seen in the basement. And, a woman is seen in the parlor in a blue dress. Strange lights have been seen.
But the creepiest haunt was told by some people coming in to see the lighthouse. When returning to their car they saw a Confederate soldier seating in the backseat.

Extra Information:
The USS Tulip exploded en route to Washington claiming 57 lives.

The College of Southern MD has a Summer Session 2010 class. Ghost Hunting 101.

And, for all you gamers. Point Lookout Lighthouse is the setting for the video game

Meet The Alumni Reunion Of Eastern State Penitentiary

I know this is short notice. But, better late then never. Just saw this today in uwishunu.com Philly:

May 17, 2010
Saturday: Alumni Reunion @ Eastern State Penitentiary

It might not come as much of a surprise to find out that former officers from Eastern State Penitentiary enjoy visiting the historic prison, and reminiscing about their time spent working there. But the fact that former inmates return to the prison to remember old times… that might seem a little odd. But it happens, and you’re invited to welcome them back this Saturday.

At 1:30pm on Saturday, May 22nd, alumni from the prison (workers and prisoners alike) will gather with the public for a talk, sharing memories about the towering prison in Fairmount.

According to Eastern State, “previous discussions have addressed work details, recreation, race relations and daily life for inmates and officers.” Come join in and ask some questions. The roundtable talk is free with admission.

Paranormal Group To Visit The Site Of The Titanic

I have been reading in several websites about the Society of the D.E.A.D. Being the first paranormal group visit the site of the Titantic to do EVP work. I'm personally not sure what to make of this? The ship is so many miles underwater. It has to be a very expensive undertaking. But, it would be very interesting to see, wouldn't it?

Alan Wake and Paranormal games from all Generations

This post is written by my son, Valafar3827. For those of you who like to play video games. He has been playing for the past 19 years. So, I would say he's an expert. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Alan Wake (Xbox 360)

Today's release, it is a game about an author of Steven King like horror stories. One of his novels actually happen to become a reality. Alan Wake is stuck in the Pacific Northwest town of Bright Falls with only a flash light and various weapons. His goal is to protect his wife and survive this horror. The enemy can take form as anyone of anything at night, when they turn into demons. The story of the game progresses like a season of a TV show with each level being a episode.

Silent Hill (Multi-Platform)

This series is all about a town called silent hill, which is a ghost town that has two dimensions being the living and the other the ghost realm. The ghost realm is where all the horrors occur and the history of the town thrives. Your basic objective of the game is to learn what happened to your family after they went on a trip. When you arrive at the town is when you learn of the history and start to rile up the second dimension in hopes of finding your family. There is a movies to this game which came out in 2006.

Ghostbusters (Xbox 360, Playstation 3)

Video game of the much loved Ghostbusters movies. The game follows the movies as you play as a recruit along side the characters from the movies and save New York from Staypuft and other paranormal entities that all seem to produce ectoplasm. The game is voiced by all of the original characters and all have hilarious new commentary to add to the Ghost Buster universe.

Pacman (Arcade)

This arcade was played by many people in their youths. No one can forget playing as a yellow circle with a pizza pie slice missing to resemble a mouth, going through a maze collecting pac-dots. While you are doing this you are avoids ghosts that you can only eat when you get the power-up.

Night Stalker (Arcade)

The game is based at night where you have to defend your base in the middle from spiders, bats, and robots. The game has an eerie feel that makes you feel you are shooting ghosts and not robots, but then I guess using conventional ghosts wouldn't make sense. As time progresses the waves get stronger try to tear down your base. Periodically you will need to reload your gun getting a power-up that appears in a random location on the map.

And Now For Something Completely Different: The Mad Knitter Strikes Again!

Yes, the Mad Knitter is back. This time in Philadelphia. Found all these bicycle racks all knitted in all crazy colors. This one is behind Reading Market in Center City. Hey, it protects the bikes from scratches. This gives a clue that the knitter is a "bicyclist". And, the plot thickens!

A Jewelry Shop Called "Halloween", Philadelphia, PA

I've read about this little store during the winter. Today I got a chance to check it out. What an eclectic little store. It's located in Philadelphia. Henri David is the owner. He makes about 40 percent of the jewelry which is made of natural stones, gold, sterling silver, pearls. He makes purchases all over the world for the rest. Very unusual pieces, one of a kind. Just beautiful.
The store use to be a house that was built in 1782. He purchased the house in 1980 and gutted the interior all the way to the basement (Which is the main part of the store). The usual part of this store "no signs". You walk though a small door. And you are standing on top of a staircase with a white squid as the railing with crystal eyes. He has a case shaped like a heart with everything shaped as "hearts" inside. On top near the ceiling you see the head of the statue of liberty. One of the store clerks said it's one of the smaller models for the original statue.
I asked Mr. David why he named the store Halloween. He stated it's one of his favorite holidays. But, the store it self is not very much anything to do with Halloween (It's funny when you call. They will answer, "Trick or Treat!"). He runs one of the largest Halloween Ball in the US. 4,200 people attend this past Halloween which included the mayor, governor and others.
Of course I asked if the shop is haunted? He said, "Oh, there are spirits here! We close the shop at night. In the morning we will see objects move. A ring, things like that". I asked him did you personally have a paranormal experience. It seems the more profound one he experience at the site of the Great Pyramids. Would have like to heard more on that. But, he had a phone call.

Do People Ignore Ghostly Happenings?

How many times have you heard a sound that you never heard before? Or, seen something at the corner of your eye that doesn't seem right.
It happens to me personally quite a bit. It makes me jumpy. But, I never mentioned that I experienced "something" maybe paranormal. Only to those very close to me.
With the word "debunking"(I don't like the word that much). It's used a lot to describe to what our minds try to make out what it is? To cross out in our mind's eye.
Is it an old house? Is it the sunny ray's heating up a window or door? Is it the wind? Should I have to have my eye's checked for "floaters"? Rats, cats? And, on and on.
So, do you think that the people around are experiencing the same as you? Good chance they are. But, afraid to look silly.
I believe people do start talking to one another when it just gets to be too much. Or, they experience it together. Then what do they do? So, I think that's why mum's the word.
It just makes me wonder "how" haunted the world really is? A while back I post video's about haunted subways in London. It points out this very point of my discussion.
The other day I was on a subway elevator. This is what's creepy. I could swear I can hear and feel someone right behind me. My mind raced. Could someone had died in there? Maybe. But, I've been on the darn thing many times before. Why now? And, who do I ask if someone had? So, I have to ignore the experience I had. It's a shame. Isn't it.

Haunted Summer Vacations Continue: The Kehoe House In Savannah, GA

Would love to make a trip down to Savannah, GA. Passed by there many times. But, never stayed over.
There is a B&B called The Kehoe House. Built in 1892 by William Kehoe an Ironworks Foundry owner. He was a father of ten children. As the legend goes. One of the pair of children were twin boys. It is believed they have died while playing in a chimney in one of the rooms. And, never came out. All the fireplaces have been blocked up.
The Kehoe House before turning into an inn was first turned into a funeral home. The inside joke is, they still call the breakfast room, the viewing room.
The inn does not really allow children to stay over. Which compounds the hauntings even more. Guests say they hear running and laughter of children. The main hauntings are in Room 201 and 203.
In 201, guests had their faces touched. When they opened their eyes to see a child looking right at them.
In 203, a guest said they felt someone sitting next to them in bed.
Front Desk staff head the front door ring. Turn to look through the glass front door. No body there. But, then the door opened by itself.
During a ghost tour a boy heard a voice saying, "Come play with me!".

I recommend a book to read before going on vacation to Savannah. "Haunted Savannah by James Caskey. He's involved with the haunted tours there.

Spooky Games By "Big Fish"!

I don't know how many of you play online games. My favorite is hidden objects. Big Fish makes pretty good games. Some are free games. Some you have to buy(*hint* Some games that you have to pay for you can get free purchase coupons for. One of them from Borders). Many you can play for 1 hour for free before purchasing.
The funniest one is Deadtime Stories (the title reminds me of Paranormal State). There's also hint guides and walk-through guides free online too.

Here's the free 1 hour Deadtime Stories:

Do We Believe Everything We See On TV? (Paranormally speaking?)

I think the "great" slow down of paranormal followers is happening faster then I thought it would. Yes, more paranormal shows are being created. But, some are not staying long enough for us to digest.
As for followers I lurk around a lot when I get a chance. It's quite noticeable on forums. Yes, I read them, it's the pulse of the viewers (there's some doosies out there too). First they are very jazzed up to talk about, what else? The paranormal. Then it falls into the weirdest conversations. That's when you know they lost interest.
Why is this happening? My guess would be because of "how" the investigations are presented. After each show people will critique what they view as being real or faked. Forget about skeptics and believers (very big topic about a couple of years ago). Now, it seems everyone just shrugged their shoulders as if to say, "who cares?". This is very disappointing to people like myself that have been in love with the supernatual.
So, did these TV shows do an injustice so to speak? I think it did. Much too many shows. It just confused a lot of people. Too many different techniques.
Maybe the future is a paranormal channel? I think that would make a lot of sense. Or, maybe, just maybe. A paranormal theme park? Hey, don't laugh!

Happy Cinco de Mayo! The Story of La Llorona, Mexico

This is a centuries old ghost legend.
In 1550, Dona Luisa de Olveros fell in love with a nobleman named Don Nuno de Motesclaros. She had two children with him (She was also thought to be a peasant). She waited for him to marry her.
Then one day she heard he was to marry. She went to his house on his wedding day. She asked him why did he not choose her? It's believe it was because she was Amerindian. It was because she was not of Mexican/Spanish ancestry. She was thrown out of the house. Because of this she became insane. Then she killed her two children with the dagger that the nobleman once gave her. She was then convicted of sorcery and publicly hanged. People say they see her ghost wandering around the streets of Mexico City looking for her children.
It is said the she is also seen by the Rio Grande River. Witnesses say she has been seen hovering on top of the water. Others heard her wailing. A boy said that he was held by the wrist by a ghostly woman trying to drag him down to the river.
The most interesting is the PERA Building in NM was built on top of the land that was once used as a Spanish-Indian graveyard near the Santa Fe River. They say they hear her weeping through it's corridors.
There are many "different" stories based on La Llorona.

The New Phenomenon: The Hat Man?

People here know me to always try to find something new in the paranormal world. I've been seeing on several sites now about "The Hat Man". It's a "shadow person" with a hat on. Some say it's strictly an American thing. But, it's said to be all over the world. Let's just say the stories seem to be the same each time when this shadow is seen. And been around about 10-15 years. What's this all about? I really can't say. Is this the devil? Who knows? I have to read up more on this. Then I'll pass it along to you guys. Interesting, isn't it?

Is There Another Dimension?

Is there another dimension? This is in reference of the reason why "ghost" exist. Or, maybe. How they become to be? There has been several cases that seem to validate this idea.
1815-There was a prisoner in a gulag. His name was Diderici. One day in the prison yard He just seemed to have vanished. Slowly in front of many of his fellow inmates that were out in the prison yard that day. He just left behind his chains that were around his hands and legs.
1949-Mr. Tetford was on his way home on a bus toward Bennington, Vermont. He was last seen sleeping at his seat. When the bus arrived only 14 of the 15 passengers left the bus. It seems Mr. Tetford have vanished before it's arrival.
There are many stories about the same unusual disappearances of many individuals. Always with several people present at the time of the person vanishing. But, there are, in some cases. They can hear the "person's" disembodied voice asking for help at the time of the disappearance. Even from from coming above their heads.
So, many questions still need to be investigated in this theory.
